Paula Rodriguez is an award-winning Spanish actress and director based in London and working internationally.

In Spain, she trained at The Royal School of Drama in Madrid RESAD and worked for Spain’s National Classical Company (CNTC) under the direction of Ernesto Caballero, as well as in Delabarca, a theatre company specialising in Calderón de la Barca’s works directed by Nuria Alkorta. In Spain, she has also worked with other companies such as Metatarso and Cuarta Pared. More recently she appeared as Dorothy in "El Mago de Oz" at Conde Duque directed by Juan Ayala and Annie Pui Ling Lok, 2019.

 

She moved to the UK in 2013 and completed her MA in Classical Acting at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Since then she has been part of several theatre projects and collaborated with companies such as The Spanish Company at Cervantes Theatre and Flute Theatre, Shakespeare for inclusive audiences, premiering "Twelfth Night" and "A Midsummer Night Dream" at Chichester Festival 2019. She has also worked with other organisations such as Dash Arts, The Young Vic, The Vaults Festival, FesteLon Spanish Theatre Festival, or CASA Festival.

 

Paula has participated in TV series such as "Cuéntame cómo pasó", and "Nada que celebrar" and the short films: "The Belt" (Toby Andrys), "The Stronger" (Adriana Páramo), "La Masa" (Ella May Kirby). She has won the 2020 best documentary actress at the International Screen Awards for "The Stronger" and was a best-supporting actress nominee for "La Masa" Indie-Short Fest (Los Ángeles), 2020.

Paula is also a translator, writer, and producer working in collaboration with other artists and creating her own artistic projects. She is the co-founder of Teatro Inverso, revisiting Spanish classics for international audiences; their shows "ROSAURA" and "WONDERS" have toured internationally since 2015. In 2017 together with a group of foreign artists, she created "The Other Solos, Shakespeare", a series of YouTube monologues reflecting on Shakespeare and migrants. Paula's new project "AURIC (songs from a golden age)" is now available online as part of Brighton Fringe Festiva, 2021.

Ha sido galardonada con el premio a mejor actriz en International Screen Awards por su papel en "The Stronger" y ha sido nominada a mejor actriz por "La Masa", en los premios del Indie-Short Fest (Los Ángeles) 2020.

Se mudó al Reino Unido en 2013 para completar un Master en Teatro Clásico en The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Londres. Desde entonces, ha formado parte de varios proyectos teatrales y ha colaborado con compañías como The Spanish Company en el Teatro Cervantes y Flute Theatre Company; Shakespeare para audiencias inclusivas, presentando "Twelfth Night" y "Midsummer Night Dream" en el Festival de Chichester 2019. Dentro del ámbito teatral también escribe, traduce y produce sus propios proyectos en colaboración con otros artistas. Es co-fundadora de la compañía Teatro Inverso, especializada en adaptar obras clásicas españolas para audiencias internacionales; sus dos espectáculos "ROSAURA" y "WONDERS" se han presentado en diverso teatros y festivales internacionales 2015. En 2017, junto con un grupo de artistas extranjeros, creó "The Other Solos, Shakespeare", una serie de monólogos de YouTube que reflexionan sobre Shakespeare y la migración. Su proyecto más reciente "AURIC (Songs from a Golden Age)" puede verse de forma virtual como parte del Festival Brighton Fringe.
